Can I play golf or tennis with my mechanical watch?
Our recommendation is no, although the risk to a manually winding mechanical watch is less than the risk to an automatically winding mechanical watch because of the rotor.

Any activity which causes a sudden, violent and accelerated motion to a mechanical watch should be considered carefully.  This includes golf, tennis, chopping wood, baseball or other similar activities, and again the risk is greater to watches with rotors.

We often hear "I play golf with my mechanical watch and have had no problems".  While this may be true, we and many others feel that the potential to damage the movement and/or rotor from sudden shock is too great to risk these activities, and our advice is to remove the watch.
